Mo’ Joes | Canton, Ohio UPDATE: CLOSED

In the category of quick weekday lunch, Mo’ Joe’s on Hills & Dales in Canton is a great little place for soup, salad, sandwiches, and coffee, as you might have guessed.  It’s perfect for take-out, with reasonable prices, great quality ingredients, and a nice well-rounded menu.  Thankfully Mo’ Joe’s is close enough to my office that I can go at least once a month; it’s in the regular rotation.  They always have “feature” items and specials, so you can try something different every time you go.  Most recently I tried the spinach quiche which was very tasty with lots of cheese and flavor.  Even the crust was yummy.

The homemade bread at Mo’ Joes is superb – always soft and fresh.  Plus they give you a nice fat slice with pretty much everything you order, including salads.

One thing I will mention is that some of the salads are pre-made, which is why I rarely order salads at fast food restaurants.  (Limp and/or watery lettuce is no bueno.)  I ordered a salad at Mo’ Joes once which came with blueberries on it.  It turned out to be pre-made, so some of my lettuce was blue from sitting under the berries.  It tasted fine, but it was a touch unappetizing, so typically I try to stick to salads that I know they make to order.

While perfect for carry-out lunch, they also have a cozy dining area with a dozen or so tables, and even a few outside.  This would be a great place to have lunch alone, too, even if you don’t usually do that; it’s filled with friendly people, good food – excellent lunch spot overall.  And if you’ve got a sweet tooth, there’s a bakery case full of homemade goodness, somehow I’ve managed to resist so far.

  1. Our salads are actually never premade, we make a point of always serving salads as fresh. The lettuce on yours probably tinged up quickly with the blueberries over it because the blueberries we used to buy tend to be very wet on their own.

Try one of our Strawberry Patch salads (our current summer special), I guarantee you’ll love it; tossed lettuce & mesculin, fresh strawberries, walnuts, bleu cheese, diced chicken and poppyseed or sweet & sour dressing.
